The Abrams, Gorelick, Friedman & Jacobson, P.C.
family sadly notes the untimely passing of our
founding partner, Daniel J. Friedman. Dan was
an extraordinary insurance attorney who began his
law career at the Kings County District Attorney's
office, where he excelled at prosecuting arson and
other financial crimes. He joined Abrams &
Martin, P.C., our predecessor firm, and immediately
excelled in defending Lloyd's Underwriters and
domestic insurance companies in Federal and State
Court litigations.
Over the course of his 32 year legal career, Dan's
skill and professionalism earned him the respect of
his clients and adversaries, one of whom wrote "A
Hole in the Water", a novel that detailed a
litigation involving a fraudulent insurance claim.
The insurer's attorney was fashioned after Dan.
Dan exemplified what a "partner" in law firms should
be- he was a wise counselor, mentor and teacher.
His work ethic and dedication to our firm, the law
and his clients is revealed in the exhausting
schedule he maintained despite his illness,
culminating in an oral argument before the New York
Court of Appeals, weeks before his passing.
Dan will be sorely missed.
